Earning merit badges gives a boy the kind of confidence that comes from learning and developing skills to achieve a goal. Earning Merit Badges During the registration process, a Scout may register for up to three merit badges. See the list of merit badges available at the PowWow. Class enrollment is limited, so make sure to register early. Becoming a Volunteer Each merit badge class will have an instructor and one or more merit badge counselors (at least one for every 20 Scouts). See the volunteer page to learn more about applying to become a merit badge counselor Receiving Group Instruction The PowWow classes are taught by experts in a group setting, along with merit badge counselors who work with Scouts. Remember, Scouts must complete all merit badge requirements in addition to attending group instruction. Please view the worksheet beforehand to see which requirements will need extra time to complete. The BYU Merit Badge PowWow has been running for over 62 years and is one of the largest Boy Scout PowWows in the United States. It is held on the beautiful campus of Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. More than 7,000 Scouts from Utah and other areas attend the Spring and Fall PowWows. Fall PowWow: October 12 & 26, 2019 - At PowWow scouts can finish up to three merit badges across the two days it is held.
